Why Your Skin Can Suffer Damage

There are many reasons why you may get skin damage.  Skin damage causes range from skin burns to wounds. This article will help you not only to identify what has caused your skin damage but will show you How to Rejuvenate Damaged Skin.  The goal is to have smoother, healthier sin on our face and body.

Whenever there is an infection, there is inflammation.  Inflammation damages and degrades the skin’s elastic collagen fibers, which is one of the causes of wrinkles, sagging and other visible signs of aging.

**Inflammation Cause

Inflammation can be chronic in conditions like eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.  Excessive dryness is present in eczema and may be present for other reasons.  When the skin’s surface is too dry, it is damaged more easily.

**Allergy Cause

Things that cause allergic reactions can be thought of as long term or age-related skin damage causes, because inflammation is involved.  Dermatitis is often due to an allergy.

Any kind of constant irritation can cause calluses or roughness.  Skin burns can cause scarring.  Burns from the sun can cause roughness and excessive dryness.

**Sun Exposure Cause

Frequent overexposure to the sun is a cause of age spots and uneven pigmentation.  UV rays from the sun trigger increased production and activity of free radicals.  Free radicals are involved in wrinkle formation, sagging and all of the signs of skin aging.

Pimples are actually minor wounds.  They can cause scarring if they are not treated properly.  Sebaceous cysts can be damaging, too.  Both minor infection and inflammation play a role in pimples and cysts.

**Weight Gain Cause

Another of the skin damage causes is sudden weight gain.  During growth spurts, the skin’s elastic fibers are usually able to keep up.  They give as the body’s size increases.  More cells and fibers are produced to accommodate the increased mass.

Gaining weight quickly during pregnancy, as a result of weight lifting or simply because of overeating can tear the skin’s dermis layer and result in scarring that we commonly refer to as stretch marks.  The marks feel and look much like the scars caused by wounds, such as cuts, scrapes or abrasions.

**Shaving Cause

Skin burns can be caused by friction from razors.  The use of a dull razor is a cause.  Razor-burn is usually a minor injury, but it can become chronic and lead to the formation of shaving bumps.  The skin may always look red.  When redness is present, inflammation is also present.

Wounds must always be treated and managed properly.  Until the wound is healed, there is the risk of complications.  Serious complications include sepsis, which is a kind of infection that spreads into the bloodstream.

Minor injuries like a small cut or shaving nick can become infected with the bacteria naturally present on the skin’s surface.  At one time, we could rely on antibiotic drugs to protect us from these kinds of infections.  But, the bacteria are becoming more resistant.

Because of this, we need to treat all wounds carefully and focus on prevention.  Luckily, some of the treatments that will help rejuvenate damaged skin will also help prevent additional damage from occurring
